Man surrenders in SC stomping death

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina police say a man has surrendered in the stomping death of a man at an apartment complex in Columbia.

Forty-nine-year-old Kenneth Jerome Mack died in a Columbia hospital Sunday night.

Police say Mack was beaten, kicked and stomped on Saturday.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says Mack apparently suffered closed head injuries. An autopsy is planned.

Police spokesman Brick Lewis says a man turned himself in at police headquarters Monday evening and was being questioned. No charges had been filed late Monday.

Investigators say they are looking for other suspects.
