Man killed in Austin plane crash grew up in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Family members have confirmed the man killed when a disgruntled businessman flew his plane into a building full of IRS offices in Austin, Texas is from South Carolina.

The victim, 68-year-old Vernon Hunter, is from Orangeburg. He graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 1959.

He was in the Austin, Texas IRS building when Andrew Joseph Stack slammed his plane into the facility Thursday.

His family says the Vietnam War veteran worked for the IRS for 27 years after a long career in the military.
