ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been sentenced to life without parole after being convicted of killing another man in 2004.
The Times & Democrat of Orangeburg reported that 46-year-old Anthony Lockhart was convicted Friday in the shooting and stabbing death of 39-year-old Timothy Ravenell. Ravenell's body was found floating in an Orangeburg County pond days after he was killed.
Lockhart has denied killing Ravenell and his attorney plans to appeal the conviction and sentence.
Lockhart and Victor Keitt were charged in 2008 after an incarcerated Keitt told authorities he had watched as Ravenell was killed. Keitt also is charged with murder in the case and testified this week that the three men were using illegal drugs and drinking on the day Ravenell died.
