BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Two men were arrested Tuesday after a shoot-out and chase with narcotics officials in Berkeley County. Sheriff's deputies from Charleston and Berkeley counties spent much of the afternoon searching for one of the suspects after he fled the scene.
Officers arrested Jason Kinloch after he was shot in the leg while trying to wrestle a gun away from a narcotics official. The second suspect, identified as Christopher Tiller, ran into a wooded area off Cainhoy Road.
Kinloch's injuries were not life-threatening, but he was transported to the hospital for treatment. The officer involved in the shooting was also transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Deputies with the narcotics team were chasing a car when when the car wrecked, said Berkeley County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Moon. One of the suspects fired and an officer returned fire, Moon said.
Canine units were deployed to hunt down the suspects, but weather conditions grounded an air-based search.
