Preservation awards being presented in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, SC (AP) - Historic preservation awards will be presented during a ceremony on the South Carolina coast.

The Governor's Office, the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation and the state Department of Archives and History present the awards on Wednesday in Georgetown.

The awards honor preservation and rehabilitation of historic buildings and structures.

After the awards ceremony, the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor Commission and the South Carolina African American Heritage Commission join the Palmetto Trust in presenting a workshop on ethnic tourism and its impact on the state.
