CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Starting next Tuesday models will strut down the runway to kick off Charleston Fashion Week.
If you have a plan on attending but are struggling to figure out what to wear, local fashionistas have some advice.
"Right now when you look at all the magazines, they're talking about wrist candy and they're talking about neck candy," said owner of Butterfly Consignments Amanda Rosen. "It's strong bold and confident and it draws attention to you and that's why we wear fashion. We don't wear it to shrink and hide into the background."
"Those six-inch heels that kill you, wear them to fashion week. Be careful in Marion Square but wear them," said owner of House of Sage Erin Abagnale.
To zero in on that perfect outfit for Charleston Fashion Week, local fashionistas said you should automatically discount certain clothing items.
"Stripes straight across. Please don't do it, because unless you're Twiggy. It just doesn't work,"said Rosen.
"You don't want to wear flip-flops...you don't want to wear baggy jeans," said India Whitfield of Biton boutique.
As part of a promotion called Go Fashion, a number of local stores are granting discounts to help those planning on attending Charleston Fashion Week purchase the right outfit.
Charleston Fashion Week runs from March 16-20.
