CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been given a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison after being convicted on lesser charges in his wife's death nearly two years ago.
55-year-old Asghar Eliaderani was convicted of involuntary manslaughter by a jury in Conway on Tuesday afternoon.
Eliaderani had been charged with murder in the death of 42-year-old Farrah Abbasi at their store in Socastee in March, 2008.
Both the couple's children criticized their father, a 13-year-old boy during sentencing and his 17-year-old sister in trial testimony.
Prosecutors say the woman was killed when she went to the store to get documents so she could take the children to Iran that summer to visit family.
