COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A 41-year-old inmate at an Estill, SC, correctional facility has been indicted Thursday for plans to commit murder within the facility.
U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald says Ernesto A. Martin, 41, stabbed a fellow inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Estill numerous times last November during a card game.
Martin was indicted by a federal grand jury for assault with intent to commit murder. The maximum penalty Martin could receive is a $250,000 fine and an additional 20 year prison sentence.
The case was investigated by agents of the FBI.
