CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Still another candidate has entered the crowded congressional race in South Carolina's 1st District, raising to 14 the number of candidates seeking the seat.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Clark Parker, a certified public accountant from Horry County, is the 10th Republican to announce in the district that reaches from near Charleston to the North Carolina state line.
Three Democrats and a candidate from the Independence Party are also running.
Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Henry Brown has decided not to seek re-election, announcing last week that he will run for Berkeley County supervisor.
