CHARLESTON, SC (AP) — A judge has finalized South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's divorce from his wife Jenny, ending their 20-year marriage.
Family Court Judge Jocelyn Cate issued her ruling Thursday. Jenny Sanford appeared in court last month asking for a divorce because of her husband's adultery.
Jenny Sanford had no comment on the final ruling.
Cate ordered financial agreements sealed, saying it was in the best interests of the couple's four children and releasing them would do nothing to enhance public understanding of what she called "an important historical event."
The governor disappeared last summer and later admitted an affair with an Argentine woman. Jenny Sanford later moved with her sons to their beachfront home near Charleston.
