COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A Clover man was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges he filed false tax returns.
According to prosecutors, John Barry, 45, was charged with five counts of falsifying tax information. The indictment alleges that from 2004 to 2008, Barry falsely claimed he was employed by a company called Gemini Systems.
Further, he misrepresented the amounts of federal income tax withheld and the amount of tax he overpaid so that he qualified for tax refunds.
If he is convicted, Barry faces a $250,000 fine and a three year prison sentence for each count.
