COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's Darrin Horn will always cherish watching star Devan Downey cofound opponents and celebrating the Gamecocks first-ever victory over a No. 1 team.
However, Horn said Friday that his team fell short of its goal and will have much work ahead to move forward next season.
Despite beating four teams picked for the NCAA tournament, the Gamecocks went 14-15 for the first losing season of Horn's college career.
Horn says his returnees must dedicate themselves to improving in the offseason and advancing in the difficult Southeastern Conference.
Not that it will be easy. The Gamecocks will be without the SEC's top scorer in Downey, a 3-time first-team all-league selection and the face of the program the past few seasons.
