CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Mt. Pleasant fire official was arrested Sunday morning for driving under the influence.

Officials say Captain Robert Wronski, 44, was traveling west on I-526 around 12:30 a.m. when his fire department SUV struck the car of 38-year-old Shawn Bucholz. Bucholz's vehicle was disabled and parked in the emergency lane, but partially in the interstate, according to a South Carolina Highway Patrol report.

Bucholz's vehicle did have its emergency flashers on, according to the report.

EMS transported Wronski to St. Francis Hospital, but he was released around 4 a.m. Upon his release, he was arrested and held at the Charleston County Detention Center.

EMS transported Bucholz to the Medical University Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.

Wronski went through bond court on Sunday morning and was released on a PR bond of $1,022.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
