MOORE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina television station says its chief meteorologist is OK after a small plane in which she was taking flying lessons crashed in a field during an emergency landing.
A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration said the two people on board were uninjured when the plane landed in a field Wednesday morning near Moore in southern Spartanburg County. The pilot had reported engine trouble.
WSPA-TV in Spartanburg reported that Christy Henderson was at the controls when the plane developed problems, but her flight instructor took over for the landing in a field off U.S. Highway 221. The plane flipped over before stopping.
WSPA reported Henderson was take taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The FAA is investigating.
