ST. MATHEWS, SC - ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. (AP) - A 13-year-old South Carolina boy has pleaded guilty in the shooting death of his 11-year-old nephew.
The teen pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter. He originally was charged with murder and could be incarcerated until he turns 21.
The teen's name has not been released. Calhoun County sheriff's deputies say he shot 11-year-old Langley Rudisell IV in the head during an Easter Sunday argument in St. Matthews last year.
Prosecutors say Langley shielded himself from the shotgun pellets with a photo of his father. The teen's attorney says the shooting was an accident and his client didn't know the gun was loaded.
The teen will be under house arrest until prison officials evaluate him and recommend how much time he should serve.
