Officials clearing Bees Ferry 18-wheeler accident

CHARLESTON, SC - CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An 18-wheeler drove off of Bees Ferry Road on Saturday morning and struck a tree, causing major backups into the afternoon.

Officials believe medical reasons contributed to the driver going off the road. The 18-wheeler caused the tree to uproot and fall onto Bees Ferry.

South Carolina Department of Transportation rerouted traffic while officials removed the tree and other debris.

As of 3:30 p.m., the tree and other debris had been removed.

The driver was transported to a hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
