SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a South Carolina woman for murder in the death of her boyfriend, who she says was killed in self-defense after he kicked in the door of their home on Valentine's Day.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports 45-year-old Juanita Neal turned herself in Friday, a day after she was charged.
Neal told police 45-year-old Barry Jones had already kicked down their door three times before she told him if he did it again, she would shoot him.
Jones was shot once in the chest.
Authorities say the grand jury was given the choice of indicting Neal for murder, involuntary manslaughter, voluntary manslaughter, or nothing at all.
Neal is at the Spartanburg County jail awaiting a bond hearing. It wasn't clear if she had a lawyer.
