MYRTLE BEACH, SC -

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - American Idol winner Jordan Sparks is headlining a concert set for Memorial Day weekend, along with other Disney stars, according to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber announced the concert Monday morning as part of the city's Military Appreciation Days. The chamber added that a parade would be planned for Saturday along Ocean Boulevard.

Officials at the announcement Monday said the weekend is geared around giving "respect for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Memorial Day has not been a respectful or family-oriented weekend [in the past]."

The Saturday, May 29 concert, which is hoped to help change that perception, will be free to all children 13 years old and younger, and will feature performances by Sparks, Savannah, Drake Bell, Jasmine Richards, and more.
