2 tree trimmers killed when rig runs off highway

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police have charged the driver of a truck that ran off an eastern Kentucky highway, striking and killing two tree-trimming company employees.

Trooper Mike Goble's report identified the victims as 20-year-old Paul Williamson of Harold and 32-year-old Kevin D. Jones of Dorton.

Police said a tractor-trailer truck driven by 44-year-old independent trucker Arthur Davis of Blackwood, S.C., struck the men beside U.S. 460 in Pike County on Monday. Davis told police he couldn't stop the truck, which was hauling heavy equipment, after coming down a hill.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Goble cited Davis on several charges including having no driver's license, and other charges could be filed.
