CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina college students have a new tool to help them learn if a class they have taken will count if they transfer to another school.
The Higher Education Commission has started a Web site to help students, parents and counselors learn if a course will transfer. The Web site also explains how much credit a student can get for courses they have taken.
Melissa Stowasser at Trident Technical College says there is no uniform statewide transfer system, so students must check each school to learn how particular courses transfer.
The commission says about 180,000 students attend the state's public colleges and more than 15,000 of them are transfer students.
