CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a Most Wanted suspect this week in Irmo.

Wayne Polite was arrested on charges of forgery and financial identity fraud.

Polite, 38, had been wanted by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

"He stole some account numbers, created some checks and passed them along," said Detective Reggie Sharpe. "The numbers were valid, the checks were not."

Investigators have 34 warrants for Polite's arrest.

"He's just a busy fella. He found something that worked and was able to capitalize on it for a brief period of time," said Sharpe. "He managed to do it long enough where he made a pretty good deal of money."

Investigators say Polite was picked up in by authorities in Savannah, but they mistakenly released him because of a computer glitch.

"In this case, we got him cold. We just need to bring him in."

Polite stands 5'9" and weighs about 150 lbs. His last known address was on Gumwood Boulevard in North Charleston.
