CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is appearing in South Carolina, where he plans to speak to Citadel cadets and later endorse state Rep. Nikki Haley for governor.
The former Massachusetts governor speaks Thursday before The Citadel Republican Society during a noontime appearance at the military school in Charleston.
Later in the day, he appears at a Charleston news conference with Haley to discuss his endorsement.
Haley is 1 of 4 Republicans in the gubernatorial primary. U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, and Attorney General Henry McMaster are also vying to replace Gov. Mark Sanford, who can't seek a third term.
