PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A South Carolina trucker has pleaded not guilty to two counts of reckless homicide after a wreck that killed two workers in eastern Kentucky.
A judge set a $50,000 cash bond for 44-year-old Arthur Davis of Blackwood, S.C.
Davis told police he was unable to stop his truck as he headed down a hill on U.S. 460 hauling a load of equipment.
Police say the driver turned the truck to avoid hitting a building but instead hit the workers, who were employees of a tree-trimming company.
The wreck happened Monday in the Mouthcard community of Pike County.
Officials said 20-year-old Paul Williamson of Harold and 32-year-old Kevin D. Jones of Dorton died at the scene.
