Drugs, guns and money seized in 3-month investigation

LORIS, SC (WMBF) - A three-month drug investigation led to the seizure of $180,000 in cash, drugs and weapons and the arrests of five people, according to investigators.

The 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, which includes Myrtle Beach Police, Conway Police and Horry County Police, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) announced Thursday the investigation into narcotics trafficking in Northeastern South Carolina led them to the cash, as well as shotguns, handguns, assault rifles and two kilos of cocaine worth $200,000 in Loris on March 25.

Five people were arrested, including three illegal aliens, according to law enforcement officials. Solicitor Greg Hembree said agents discovered the cocaine and weapons were being stored at a home off of SC-9 Business outside Loris, Agents arrested three of the men inside the home and two others just outside.

Arrested and charged were:

  • Jorge Rivera Albarran, 47, of Tabor City, NC: charged with trafficking cocaine, 10 grams or more but less than 28 grams; trafficking in ice, crank or crack, more than 28 grams but less than 100 grams; firearms/possession, purchase, sale or transport by unlawful alien;
  • Christopher Jerome Elleby, 29, of Tabor City, NC: charged with trafficking cocaine, 400 grams or more; trafficking in ice, crank or crack, more than 28 grams but less than 100 grams;
  • Zacarias Gomez Espinosa, 34, of Tabor City, NC: charged with trafficking cocaine, 10 grams or more but less than 28 grams; trafficking in ice, crank or crack, more than 28 grams but less than 100 grams; firearms/possession, purchase, sale or transport by unlawful alien;
  • Roberto Fonseca, 20, of Myrtle Beach: charged with trafficking cocaine, 10 grams or more but less than 28 grams;
  • Esteban Rivera, 18, of Loris: charged with trafficking cocaine, 10 grams or more but less than 28 grams; trafficking in ice, crank or crack, 28 grams or more but less than 100 grams; firearms/possession, purchase, sale or transport by unlawful alien.
