GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of a man at a convenience store in 2008.
Multiple media outlets reported a Georgetown County jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday night against 21-year-old Dominic Leggette of Andrews.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Antonio Tisdale was shot in his hometown of Andrews on Aug. 13, 2008.
Leggette had been charged with murder. The jury deliberated 12 hours before returning the conviction on the lesser charge.
Circuit judge Ben Culbertson sentenced Leggette to 30 years in prison.
Leggette said he fired in self-defense when he heard two men behind him and turned and 1 of them appeared to be reaching for something in his pocket.
