DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) - A former South Carolina police officer has been arrested and charged with misconduct in office and petit larceny.
The Morning News of Florence reported that former Darlington officer Farrell A. Bethea of McColl was arrested by the State Law Enforcement Division on Thursday.
SLED says the 23-year-old Bethea is accused of taking $460 from a man he arrested during a traffic stop in February.
Darlington Police Chief Jay Cox says Bethea is no longer with the department, but he wouldn't say if he quit or was fired. Cox says Bethea had been with the department about a year.
It was unclear if Bethea had an attorney.
