Conroy wooed to Tulane by promise of new facility

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Ed Conroy says he agreed to leave The Citadel for Tulane in part because of the promise of new facilities that should make the Green Wave more competitive.

Tulane formally introduced Conroy on Wednesday as the Green Wave's men's basketball coach. Athletic Director Rick Dickson also says Tulane is moving ahead with plans to build a new practice center that would serve men's and women's basketball, as well as the volleyball team.

Dickson says the facility will include offices; weight, training, locker and film rooms; and two practice courts.

Conroy has been head coach at The Citadel for four seasons. He replaces Dave Dickerson, who resigned last week after five seasons. Tulane was 8-22 this past season.
