CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The curtain is about to rise on the Charleston International Film Festival as it celebrates its third season in South Carolina.
The highlight of Thursday's opening night is the premiere of the movie "The Fifth Quarter" starring Adrian Quinn and South Carolina native and North Carolina resident Andie MacDowell.
The movie, filmed in North Carolina, tells the story of how linebacker Jon Abbate (ah-BAH'-tee), wearing the No. 5 jersey of his late brother Luke, led Wake Forest in its successful 2006 football season.
The festival, continuing through Sunday, features both established and new filmmakers and includes everything from features and documentaries to animation and shorts.
