Probation for SC woman who viewed celeb passports

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina woman who viewed passport applications from celebrities has been sentenced to a year of probation by a federal judge.

46-year-old Yvette Burrison of Summerville was sentenced Wednesday.

Burrison, who once worked at the U.S. State Department's passport office in North Charleston, pleaded guilty earlier to improperly viewing passport applications from about 100 people including actors, musicians, models and athletes.

She viewed the confidential files between January of 2003 and September 2006. The names of the celebrities were not released.

Burrison says she had no official reason to view the applications and was just curious.
