SC man faces murder charges of deaths of 3

SPARTANBURG, SC - SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in South Carolina have charged a man with murder in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend, her boyfriend and daughter.

Multiple media outlets reported Monday night that Cass Franklin Smith is charged in the deaths of 41-year-old Suzanne Elizabeth Bridges, her 15-year-old daughter, Margaret Matilda Wenner, and 45-year-old Harold Benjamin Lick.

Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton and Seventh Circuit Solicitor Trey Gowdy scheduled a Tuesday news conference to announce whether they'll seek the death penalty.

Blanton didn't return a phone call seeking comment late Monday night.

Authorities say all three bodies were discovered Saturday by two children who had been sleeping in the home and were unharmed.

A deputy said Smith hadn't been jailed late Monday night and had no further information about him.
