Coroner: South Carolina teen was strangled

GREENVILLE, SC -

WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (AP) - An autopsy shows a teen whose body was found near a vacant South Carolina home was strangled.

Greenville County deputy coroner Scott Ramsey says 17-year-old A'sha Rucker was strangled up to two days before her body was found by children in Williamston.

Ramsey says Rucker had therapeutic amounts of Benadryl and pain medicine in her system, but it didn't contribute to her death.

Authorities had suspected Rucker was strangled but wanted to get toxicology results before making a final determination. Investigators have said it would be easier to determine a suspect once the cause of death was determined.

Rucker had been missing for several days when her body was found in November. Police are still investigating, but no arrests have been made.
