FLORENCE, SC - FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Three men, including a father and son, have been sentenced to federal prison after admitting they attacked a black man at a South Carolina convenience store because of his race and threatening two white men for helping him.
The U.S. Justice Department says 49-year-old Thomas Blue Sr., 29-year-old Thomas Blue Jr. and Judson Talbert were sentenced on Tuesday for the December 2007 assault and carjacking of Dahndra Moore at a store run by the Blue family.
The three Marlboro County men admitted the elder Blue forced Moore from the store, and the younger Blue threatened him with a chain saw. Talbert admitted stealing Moore's car, which he and the elder Blue burned.
Blue Sr. had agreed to a 13-year prison sentence. Talbert agreed to nine years and Blue Jr. to three years.
