Student accused of having 2 guns on SC campus

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A student has been arrested on a South Carolina college campus and accused of having two handguns in his car.

Multiple media outlets reported 24-year-old Lawson Boling of Taylors is charged with two counts of carrying a weapon on school property.

Officials say they found two guns in the trunk of Boling's car Thursday at Greenville Technical College's campus in Simpsonville.

College Police Chief Bobby Welborn says sheriff's deputies called to tell him about a call that a student upset about academics was headed to class.

Welborn says campus officers approached Boling and searched his car. Welborn says there is no indication Boling intended to use the guns.

Boling was taken to the Greenville County jail. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
