SC prison inmate walks away from work assignment

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Police are looking for a South Carolina prison inmate who walked away from a work assignment in Columbia.

The Corrections Department said 26-year-old David Thurman Holmes was reported missing from a restaurant late Monday afternoon.

Holmes was assigned to the Campbell Pre-Release Center in Columbia.

He was serving a 6-year sentence for burglary from Lexington County and had been in the prison system since last April.
