COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A Greenwood man pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal drug charges after investigators say he was caught with nearly 50 grams of crack cocaine, a gun and thousands of dollars in counterfeit crash.
Derrick Lewis, 30, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Lewis will be sentenced at a later date. He faces up to $2 million in fines and 40 years in prison.
According to acting U.S. Attorney Kevin F. McDonald, Greenwood Police attempted to stop a Lincoln Town Car that Lewis was driving. As officers approached the vehicle, Lewis fled the scene. He was arrested at a nearby residence, where officers found the drugs, gun and counterfeit.
