Federal regulators to talk about SC nuclear plant

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Federal nuclear power regulators are holding an open house to discuss safety performance at South Carolina Electric & Gas Co.'s facility near Jenkinsville.

Staffers from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be at Wednesday's meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. at McCrorey-Liston Elementary School in Blair, about 30 miles northwest of Columbia. The public is invited to ask questions and get an update on the plant's operations.

Regulators say the Summer plant that SCE&G operates with state-owned utility Santee Cooper met all agency safety objectives last year and does not require any additional oversight.
