EASTOVER, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina authorities have confirmed one pilot has died and a second was hurt after a helicopter crash at a military base.
Multiple media outlets reported the crash of the AH-64 Apache helicopter happened during a training exercise at McEntire Joint Air National Guard Base east of Columbia on Sunday afternoon.
The names of the pilots have not been released.
Brig. Gen. Les Eisner with the South Carolina National Guard says emergency workers took both pilots to a local hospital.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts confirmed 1 of the pilots died.
Eisner would not release details about the crash, saying he did not want to speculate what might have caused the crash.
