CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A national meeting on the South Carolina coast is focusing on ports and the environment.
The 3-day Harbors, Navigation and Environment seminar hosted by the American Association of Port Authorities opens on Tuesday in Charleston.
The meeting helps environmental managers at the nation's seaports learn from each other about the best ways to protect the environment.
Topics include such things as reducing emissions from transporting goods and dealing with the effects of climate change.
Association president Kurt Nagle says the nation's seaports are working with environmental groups and investing millions to reduce the impact of ports on the environment.
