Fla., NY bikers die in SC wreck

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - Motorcyclists from Florida and New York have been killed following a wreck in South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported two bikers were killed after a wreck in Mount Pleasant late Tuesday morning when they were struck from behind by a sports utility vehicle.

Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kelly Myers says 80-year-old James Doucette of Port Charlotte, Fla., and 50-year-old James Hines from Yaphank, N.Y., died.

Myers planned autopsies Wednesday.

Mount Pleasant Police Capt. Carl Ritchie says the men had been in the Myrtle Beach area for Bike Week and decided to come to Charleston for the day. Ritchie says they had stopped in traffic on U.S. 17 when they were struck by the SUV, which pushed them into the back of another vehicle.

Police say charges are pending.
