CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Six Chinese nationals in Beufort County were indicted Wednesday on charges of conspiracy and harboring and transporting illegal aliens.
Zi Tong Wang, Ai Hui Huang, Ming Chao Wang, Xiao Xia Wang, Ping Yong Huang, and Yu Yan are all alleged to have owned or operated the Jade Garden restaurants in Beaufort and Bluffton, which were searched by federal and county agents in March for immigration violations.
The indictment also contained forfeiture allegations against any property the Chinese nationals may have acquired from the proceeds of these violations.
The maximum penalty the Defendants could receive is a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment of ten years. All face deportation proceedings after serving any prison sentence imposed in the case.
