Murrells Inlet man indicted for CVS pharmacy robberies

COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A 21-year-old man has been indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday for two robberies at a Murrells Inlet CVS pharmacy.

Jason Cook, of Murrells Inlet, was indicted on charges of robbing the pharmacy with a firearm, conspiracy and possessing with intent to distribute Oxycodone.

U.S. Attorney William Nettles said the charges are the result of an investigation into consecutive robberies at the CVS pharmacy, located on US-17 Bypass, between February and March 2009. Authorities allege Cooke pointed a firearm at a pharmacist, demanded Oxycodone and fled the scene with the drugs.

The maximum penalty Cooke could receive is life imprisonment. He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 32 years behind bars.
