Power has been restored in Riverland Terrace community

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The power has been restored to thousands of customers in the Riverland Terrace neighborhood on James Island.

SCE&G cut the power at midnight Thursday. The announcement came after crews found equipment in dire need of repairs.

"During a recent inspection of the Riverland Terrace substation, crews discovered equipment in need of immediate repair," the company said in a release. "Unfortunately, the location of these components within the substation itself requires both high voltage feeds to the neighborhood to be de-energized to complete the repairs."

Power was interrupted from midnight through 6 a.m. Friday. Residents should make preparations now for the extended outage, said power company officials.

Customers with questions about the service interruption can call 1-800-251-7234.
