CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Organizers are planning Charleston's first gay pride festival and parade for Saturday in North Charleston.
Festivities include a parade through historic downtown North Charleston and a rally and festival in Waterfront Park.
Backers call the day of events Charleston's first ever march for equal rights for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.
Saturday's parade begins at noon on the east side of Park Circle and will continue down East Montague to Virginia Avenue concluding at Riverfront Park. A rally and festival with music, entertainment and vendors will continue until 5 p.m.
