Rescue crews find missing teen's body near Awendaw

AWENDAW, SC (WCSC) - Coast Guard rescue crews have found the body of a 15-year-old boy who fell from a dock while fishing along the Intercoastal Waterway near Awendaw.

The teenager was reported missing around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after a strong current carried him out.

An Air Station HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew, a 25-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Charleston, Charleston County Rescue Squad, Charleston County Sheriff's Office Divers and Marine Patrol and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources searched for the teen through the night.

Officials located his body around 10:30 p.m. At this time, they do not suspect foul play.
