Victims identified in deadly Saturday crash

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) – The Dorchester County Coroner identifies victims of deadly accident on U.S. Highway 61 this morning.

18-year-old Byron Keith Mallard, Jr. of North Charleston; 21-year-old Willie James Moore, Jr. of Goose Creek; and 29-year-old Rosalyn G. Allen of North Charleston died after their SUV ran off the roadway and struck a tree near Beech Hill Elementary School.

According to L/Cpl. Bob Beres with South Carolina Highway Patrol, around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, the 2001 Ford Escape was traveling towards Charleston on U.S. Highway 61 when it ran off the road. The driver overcorrected and struck a tree.

The driver and the two passengers involved in this accident were not wearing their seatbelts, said Beres.

The collision is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
