SC table tennis to benefit wounded warriors

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Members of 2 table tennis clubs in South Carolina are joining forces to support injured members of the military and their families.

Saturday's open tournament in Columbia is sponsored by the Greater Columbia and Palmetto Table Tennis clubs. Club organizers Joel Mitchell and Francis Kovach say it will be held at the Polo Road Park Gymnasium.

All proceeds go to the nonprofit Wounded Warriors Project, which supports programs and services for severely injured members of the military and their families.

The tournament is sanctioned by the USA Table Tennis association. Competition will also be available for the standing disabled, and there will be a wheelchair category, and spots for beginning players.
