Dorchester deputy placed on admin leave after drinking allegations

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Dorchester County Sheriff's Deputy accused of drinking at a bar while on duty was placed on administrative leave, according to Sheriff LC Knight.

Knight said the alleged incident happened at the Ice House in Summerville over the weekend.

"The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office has a zero tolerance policy pertaining to the driving of a county vehicle and the consumption of alcohol," said John Garrison, the department's spokesperson, in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

The department has not released the deputy's name. However, a spokesman said the deputy would keep his pay during the internal investigation.
