SC coroner says baby's death a homicide

EASLEY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina coroner says the death of a 7-month-old boy earlier this week was no accident.

Multiple media outlets reported that Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley on Tuesday ruled the death of Braydon Alexander Odell at a home in Easley a homicide.

No arrests have been made.

Kelley says the boy died Sunday from a head injury. Authorities had been called to an apartment on Thursday because the boy was unresponsive.

Easley Police Maj. Tim Tollison says investigators are questioning people who had been in the house before emergency workers were called. Tollison says the call came from a man who was a friend of the boy's mother and was alone with the child when authorities arrived. Tollison says the mother left a few minutes before authorities arrived.
