Cycling championship to be held in SC in September

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - U.S. pro cycling championships again will be held in South Carolina.

Officials said that the USA Cycling Professional Championships will be held in Greenville for the fifth consecutive year. Events run on Sept. 18-19 will include the 112-mile road race and a time trial championship.

Cycling star George Hincapie is the defending road race champion while David Zabriskie took the time trial race.

Organizers said the cycling races have attracted more than 300,000 people to Greenville. The only change this year is that the races will take place two weeks later than usual so they don't conflict with a major cycling race in Canada.
