NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC - NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - An 80-year-old West Virginia man has been sentenced to 10 years suspended sentence for solicitation to commit murder.
Rudolph Westley Beale, of Lewisburg, WV, will serve three years in jail and five years probation after prosecutors proved he tried to pay $5,000 to have someone murdered in June 2009. As part of the sentencing, Beale is not allowed to live in Horry County and must undergo mental rehabilitation.
An informant told North Myrtle Beach Police that Beale had expressed a desire to have a person murdered between June 22 and June 25, 2009. Police were able to record conversations in which the informant and Beale agreed to arrange a third person to commit the crime for $5,000, with Beale giving the information half of the money prior to the murder.
Detectives executed a search warrant on June 25 and seized $3,000 in cash along with six photos of the target. Investigators also said Beale left the key to his house under the informant's door mat for the informant to go into the home and get the cash and photos.
